Dolce’s Desk: Meet Your New Best Friend
Guest Column Tamara Stickler, Stray Streets TNR
Stray Streets TNR is a committee of The Community Projects of Havre de Grace, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Initially organized in 2015 to humanely address the overpopulation of stray and free-roaming intact cats in Havre de Grace, we work with communities to establish colony caregivers to trap, neuter, vaccinate against rabies and distemper, then return the cats to where they were found.
companions and providers of food and often don’t recognize prey as being edible. Residents who feed these community cats alert us when new cats appear so they too can be identified and vetted before they begin to breed. They also alert us when any cat becomes ill or incapacitated so it can be removed and vetted.
Whenever possible, we try to reunite friendly cats who may be lost with their families. After a suitable amount of time, when they are not claimed, we work to place them into suitable new homes. We always have wonderful cats available for adoption and are always in need of foster caregivers to help socialize or care for ill cats until they are ready to be placed for adoption.
We also provide low- to no-cost spay/neuter services for Havre de Grace residents who need assistance fixing their pets, cats they have rescued and colony cats they are feeding. In addition, we are here to help educate pet owners on correcting behavioral problems, as well as helping find ways for pets to remain in their homes in times of crisis with temporary food pantry services for pet owners and colony caregivers who need help covering the cost of food for the cats in their care.

As always we want to thank all our incredible volunteers, donors and the City of Havre de Grace for making what we do possible!
