where local music comes to play!

It’s the new year and along with that come new beginnings, new challenges and new opportunities. No one knows this better then the members of the band Sugar Jack.
The band was originally formed in 2005 by Jon Mickey and Eric Plantholt with the mission to find music that members of the band and the audience could truly feel – from covers to original tunes.
Tragically, in 2014, Mickey was lost in a car accident.
And with that new challenge, a new chapter in the band’s existence was launched, as the remaining members decided to keep the band alive in Jon’s memory. Tony DiLorenzo, who was on break, returned to the band; Keith Lee joined as lead singer; and guitarist Matt Bressler rounded things out.
“I started playing when was I was 19,” said founding member Eric Plantholt (also known as “erock”). “I’ve always loved alternative metal and funk rock and have had a passion for writing original music.”
Lead/rhythm guitarist Matt Bressler says his musical influencers include Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello; Keith Lee’s favorites are Bob Marley, SubLime and Pearl Jam; and drummer Tony Bruno favors KISS, Aerosmith and Van Halen.
Some of Tony DiLorenzo’s favorite music memories include heading college night at the original HammerJacks, opening for the Black Crowes in Ocean City and appearing on Star Search in 1995 with The Loft.
The band continues to play live gigs all over the region. And while he may no longer physically be there, Jon Mickey is on the stage with them for every song.
