Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. From the Emmy-winning team behind the mega-hit television series, “Friends,” comes Rapunzel. A familiar tale with a fantastic new spin, it has all of the charm that you’d expect from the minds that have been making the world laugh non-stop for more than two decades.
Forced to live alone in a tower with nothing but her hair and her witch (literally) of a “mother,” Rapunzel’s sixteenth birthday has come, meaning that she’ll be able to see the outside world for the first time, just as her “mother” promised. Scared to let her go, though, the witch reneges. Lucky for Rapunzel a young Prince named Brian happens across her tower and calls out to her, as he’s seen the witch do: “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your hair!” Before the Prince and Rapunzel have their inevitable “happily ever after,” though, they’re going to have to face the wrath of the witch and a few other hilarious obstacles.
Presented by Arrangement with Music Theatre International.
General Seating: Adult $12; Student/Youth/Senior $8; Please Note: Everyone who enters the theater, regardless of age, requires a ticket.

Food and bar specials by Laurrapin Caters. In partnership with the Havre de Grace Arts Collective.
Hipster Assassins is a collaborative endeavor of virtuosic talent that came together in New York City at the historic Zinc Bar in 2010. Over the next 2 years the band had a weekly Monday night residency at Zinc where it started to develop its own sound playing both originals and covers. Since its inception, the band has played all over the world, including Montreal Jazz Fest, the Jazz Cafe in Costa Rica and plays once a month at NYC’s famous 55 Bar.
Each of the members bring their own unique, original voices to the band. Their vast experience with legends of the industry has allowed the members of Hipster Assassins to bring unique voices and ideas to the band, and has been essential to the development of their unique sound.
Felix Pastorius, Bassist: The son of Jaco Pastorius who has worked with the Yellowjackets, Jeff Coffin’s Mutet, A$AP Rocky, and Onyx Collective, has worked hard and achieved his own voice on the electric bass. This voice is the anchor of the band.
John Bendy, Guitarist: Brought up in the blues, John learned his craft from masters Bill Perry and Popa Chubby. His fierce, virtuosic style comes from a blend of the blues and high energy jazz fusion.
Mike Bendy, Bass: The idea of a second bassist in a band could be strange to some, but Mike’s virtuosic skill and experience gives him the tools to compliment the other low-end instruments in the band perfectly. Outside of Hipster Assassins Mike has performed with Kenwood Dennard, Alex Foster, Sean Wayland and the metal band Res15.
Kenny Grohowski, Drums: Kenny works regularly with various John Zorn projects as well as the famed fusion group Brand X. He has also worked with Lonnie Plaxico and Andy Milne’s Dapp Theory.
Proceeds benefit The Havre de Grace Arts Collective.

Harford County, Maryland, is a wealth of unexplored sites. Bordered by the bountiful Chesapeake Bay, mighty Susquehanna River, and quiet Gunpowder Falls, the area features protected parkland and unique geologic formations, colonial architecture, sprawling farms, busy towns, and a multi-cultural arts scene.
The prestigous Harford Plein Air Painting Festival, comprised of a juried competition and a community-based quick draw competition, annually draws professional artists from across the U.S. to capture the county’s charms. The Festival’s unique format allows painters to work at their own pace from July 1 to September 15, competing for thousands of dollars in cash prizes and sales commissions. The Maryland Center for the Arts hosts activities for painters to interact with one another and in the community in relaxed social settings.
New this year! To showcase the county’s arts scene, the Maryland Center for the Arts has joined with the Harford County Cultural Arts Board, the Bel Air Cultural Alliance, and the Havre de Grace Arts Collective and other county arts organizations to present “Harford Arts Week,” September 11-18, presenting exhibitions, performances, and creative opportunities for artists of all genres.

Visiting Havre de Grace on Saturday, July 2, 2022 will be like walking onto the set of “Happy Days!” We will be joining the rest of the nation in celebrating America’s birthday, but will do it with a special twist – a big dose of good ole mid-century Americana! Where else but in charming Havre de Grace can you truly feel like you just stepped into a Norman Rockwell painting? Travel back with us to an era known for Poodle skirts, the rise of Elvis to super stardom, “Father Knows Best,” and the birth of rock ‘n’ roll.
Pennington Avenue will be converted into a straight-away and slalom racecourse for a variety of derby races all day long. From derby cars to adults on mini two-wheelers, there’s a full day of racing to enjoy whether you are a participant or a spectator.
Participate in a “Mac and Cheese Throwdown!” Purchase a Throwdown ticket, sample each restaurant’s mac and cheese, then vote for your favorite. Winning restaurant receives an All-American trophy and all-important bragging rights!
Kids! Decorate your bike in red, white and blue and join the patriotic bike parade down Washington Street. Trophies to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners, and medals to all participants!
Our KidZone will also host a FREE outdoor movie theatre celebrating America. All day long, we will be airing the best Fourth of July movies for kids that the whole family will enjoy. The “At the Hop” beer garden will be located on lower Pennington Avenue, complete with themed décor, music and costumes. When the stage at Rochambeau Plaza isn’t hosting derby awards, a dance instructor will teach the crowds how to hand jive or how to do the Madison, Mashed Potato, Twist, Frug or Watusi.
Live entertainment at the Opera House and State Theater as well as live broadcasts by WHGM Gold add to the flashback fun. Throwback entertainers walking around in 50’s costumes, photo ops, hula hoop contests, vendors, crafters, food trucks, patriotic chalk drawing, public readings of the Declaration of Independence, and a “Patriotic Pooch” contest for all dogs great and small, and you’ll be left with a full day of family fun and memories you won’t soon forget!

Mer-Friends!!! The registration for the Third Annual Mermaid Run 5k, Mermaid Mile and Virtual Mermaid Run for 2022 has begun! In person race will be held at Fin-tastic Aberdeen Festival Park, at 8am.
With Mer-Friends and Merminis from all over the world registering last year we officially became an international run! We loved seeing all our in-person and virtual MerFriends in their costumes and Mermaid Gear! We would love to see our fin-tastic friends running, walking, skipping and dancing under the sea and crossing that finish line again!
The 5K Race will be professionally chip-timed by Blue Cheetah Sports Timing and offers a marathon-quality 5k finisher’s medal and event shirt for all participants. The course is USATF Certified – Fast and FLAT! Costumes are encouraged, and we will have music, decorations and prizes!
Proceeds will benefit the Maryland Chapter TEARS Foundation, a non-profit offering financial assistance to help with the cost of infant burial or cremation expenses as well as emotional support including online support groups and remembrance gatherings. www.thetearsfoundation.org.
The Maryland Chapter TEARS Foundation holds a special place in our hearts to our family. This organization helped us with emotional support with the loss of our daughter, Ariella Jessica O’Mara.
Our little Ariella would have turned 4 years old in April of 2022. We were so honored and humbled by how many of our new MerFriends celebrated our daughter’s short but impacting life by registering to run. We know she would have loved to have seen everyone’s fin-tastic costumes, balloons and bubbles!
What better way than to help other families like ours who never thought they would have to plan for burial plots, cremation, funeral services while expecting a baby.
No one should ever have to go through the loss of a child but the honest truth is that many do. Through our support and event we hope to raise enough money to help many families.
This event is rain or shine; no refunds will be offered due to inclement weather or other reasons.
