Calendar of Events
So much to do, so much to see!
Each season brings more opportunities to Keep it Local as community groups and businesses host events and activities that entertain and inspire. From arts performances and concerts to community fund-raising, to charity runs and unique sales events, you’ll find it all in our Calendar of Events – Harford County’s most comprehensive calendar.
Our updated events calendar includes further details of events listed in the magazine as well as events submitted after the current issue went to press. We update daily, so come back often!
If your organization or business is planning an event that you’d like to have listed, please use our event submission form. Please feel free to submit as many events as you like – we encourage it! We choose 60-70 from our website to appear in each printed edition of the magazine.

“Five Voices in Watercolor” is curated by Frank Spino and includes the works of five central Maryland artists including Joanna Barnum, Janet Belich, Matthew Bird, Kathleen Maling, and Frank Spino. All artists are affiliated with the American Watercolor Society (AWS), an organization whose mission is to foster the appreciation of watercolor media. A top goal of most watercolorists is to be juried into the annual AWS exhibit staged in New York, NY. All five of the artists featured in this show have achieved that goal multiple times.
The public is invited to an opening reception on November 17th from 6-9pm as well as a closing reception on Sunday, January 7th from 4-6pm.
Give your child care they’ll smile about. Registration for The EPICENTER’s before and after-school care program is now open.
We offer transportation to and from school, meals, educational activities, character-building, and so much more! This program is open to students grades K-8th at both our Aberdeen and Edgewood locations.

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

One of our favorite holiday traditions returns to the Opera House with the annual “Mayor’s Pick” viewing party. This year, Mayor Bill Martin has chosen the buddy cop action film, Lethal Weapon.
Does Lethal Weapon contain all of the snow, gift-giving, turkey-eating, and mall Santas that we’re used to seeing in a Christmas movie? No. But that’s what makes this movie so special. It’s the journey of two (now) friends facing the challenges of the holidays together. Sure, there are explosions and shoot-outs, but they’re set to some of our favorite Christmas tunes, aren’t they?

Hilarity abounds in this portrait of three couples successively occupying a suite at The Plaza. A suburban couple take the suite while their house is being painted and it turns out to be the one in which they honeymooned 23 (or was it 24?) years before and was yesterday the anniversary, or is it today? This wry tale of marriage in tatters is followed by the exploits of a Hollywood producer who, after three marriages, is looking for fresh fields. He calls a childhood sweetheart, now a suburban housewife, for a little sexual diversion. Over the years she has idolized him from afar and is now more than the match he bargained for. The last couple is a mother and father fighting about the best way to get their daughter out of the bathroom and down to the ballroom where guests await her or as Mother yells, “I want you to come out of that bathroom and get married!”
“Plaza Suite” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

The Piano Men is a musical celebration of the 1970’s, from the songbooks of Billy Joel and Elton John. Award-winning, Canadian recording artist, Jim Witter, and his incredible band, take you on an expertly crafted tour, saluting two of the century’s most popular contemporary songwriters.
Utilizing spectacular visuals on a giant screen behind Witter and his band, we return to the newspaper headlines, the automobiles, the people, the events, the toys and even the TV shows that shaped a decade. Along the way, the sounds of “Your Song,” “My Life”, “Candle in the Wind”, “Rocket Man”, “Just the Way You Are”, and many more classic hits create an evening that’s so much fun, you won’t want it to end. By the time you hit 1979, you’ll be begging these musicians to move back to 1970 and start all over again.
Reserved Seating starts at $25. Early Bird Special: No service fee until October 6.
2 – 45-minute sets with an intermission.
Everyone who enters the theater, regardless of age, requires a ticket. Visit Ticket Office for more information.

Their shows of traditional Irish folk standards mixed with American folk classics and some original tunes are always sold out with a long wait list. In 2011 they opened O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Pub in Dingle which has gained a reputation for world class traditional Irish music. In 2015, National Geographic cited O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Pub as the go-to pub for traditional Irish music on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Their first duet album, “Safe Home”, which they released in early 2018, makes you feel like you’re back in the Courthouse Pub. The O’Sullivans also lead 10-day music tours throughout Ireland.

A tribute to Elton John. There is no other performer who looks and sounds so much like Elton John, nor any tribute act that provides the experience of being at an Elton John concert the way Gerald Brann and Yellow Brick Road do. Brann not only bears an uncanny resemblance to the international superstar — complete with gap-toothed smile and many of his mannerisms — but recreates Elton John’s vocals and playing to a tee.
To capture the essence of the piano man, Brann dresses in replica costumes and wears Elton’s trademark outrageous glasses. A trained jazz pianist, Brann has been a lifelong Elton John fan, and his admiration for and love of his music comes shining through as he plays one hit after another with remarkable likeness to the pop music icon. Brann and his talented five-piece band evoke audience participation throughout the entire show — whether singing along to “Rocket Man” and “Your Song,” swaying to “Candle in the Wind,” or hopping and bopping to “Crocodile Rock.”
With an unprecedented nod from the man himself, Gerald Brann was granted permission to use Elton John’s own orchestral scores to perform with the Augusta Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Brann and Yellow Brick Road have been officially endorsed by Hercules, the International Elton John Fan Club, and have played extensively throughout the world to rave reviews.

• http://www.thelockhousemuseum.org.Who’s Bad’s live performance is an unrivaled celebration of pop music’s one true King. Their power-packed performance of Michael Jackson’s expansive catalog has ignited crowds on every continent and can only be described as a jaw-dropping, musical must-see. As the longest-running Michael Jackson tribute band, and the only one to predate his untimely passing, Who’s Bad has awed even the skeptics, selling out nearly 50 venues in the United Kingdom including London’s O2 in December of 2010, the venue where the King of Pop was slated to end his career with a 50-show “This Is It” concert series.
Who’s Bad has earned its name by paying studious attention to Michael Jackson’s every original groove and gravity-defying dance move, boasting over 100 years of professional experience and a team of dancers with resumes that include Broadway productions such as Phantom of the Opera. Vamsi Tadepalli (Who’s Bad founder, composer, and saxophonist) assembled a cast of North Carolina’s premiere musicians and, from Who’s Bad’s inception, believed in the band’s boundless possibilities. The velvety vocals and pinpoint choreography of frontmen Joseph Bell and Taalib York’s combined with the six-piece band’s synchronized dance routines, blaring horns and down-deep rhythms, results in a performance delivered with soul and precision superseded by no one but the King himself.
